Of course–coupled with a healthy diet–yoga like this burns fat all over the body and helps you tone up too.

Put your back knee down for the standing poses, stay in Down Dog instead of doing every vinyasa in-between sides, learn the sequence and slow it down or press pause and breathe in Child’s Pose till you catch your breath:)

Good luck!

Try my Core Strength Vinyasa Yoga: Power Hour DVD on Amazon–it’s got great sound and helps with weight loss too.

Yes, absolutely. Yoga like this layers cardio with muscle-building [raising your metabolism to burn more calories all day and night long] plus it stretches you so you build more muscle density which means metabolism goes up even more. That’s why we all look so great–it really works–no other exercise or weights needed. xoSadie

It can increase height a little, if you’re tight muscularly. I can’t say by how much. You’ll feel taller when you get the long, lean yoga body though! :)

Hey there–

It’s all in the practice–when you refine poses and your balance over time you’ll be able to do it. Anything you start will be hard at first. And you strengthen fast trying to balance. do it a few times a week for a month and see! xoSadie

Hey there,

Yes, don’t go crazy-you will start being more curvy soon and I want you to know that’s AWESOME. You don’t want to be scrawny…but fit and healthy for your body type is good.
Yoga can be done anytime. Just doing it is the main thing.

Hey Sadie! I’m looking to get a flat stomach fast. I’ve been trying to for the last…8 months? And I’ve only got about 5 pounds to lose. Oh those stubborn ones! How long did it take you to get it flat?

sadienardini October 31, 2009 at 6:34 PM

Hey honey–

Sounds like you’ve been through a LOT. Yoga will definitely be your magic tool against gaining weight. One thing though–800-900 calories is severe, and your metabolism will actually slow down if you remain on it outside of the hospital. If you are active during the day [not in bed all day], you need at LEAST 1200 calories to keep your metabolism [fuel your brain and body functions] running. If you do 30-60 mins of strong yoga, add 2-300 calories onto that. You will NOT gain weight.

It’s the yoga, baby!
