I love this interview so open and honest and although I’m not a huge Larry King fan, I have to admit that I respect him for openly asking tyra these questions, if black women and white men and women keep feeling embarrased about talking about black culture then our self esteem and body image as black women will never be resolved. Hopefully more ppl feel free to ask questions and truly understand. Props to Tyra and Larry.

geneofisis my sister is a print model and she’s told me horror stories of white sylist burning out black hair. They don’t know how to style or care for black hair. She wears wigs/weaves to protect her hair, because it’s practical and also because it’s called for depending on what she’s modeling. She looks on it as just part of the wardrobe. She wears her own hair when she’s at home and not working. Tyra prolly wears weave/wigs because it’s easier, practical and protects her hair from damage.
If that is true then this was a great publicity stunt!

Well yes- I have to agree with you there. Since the fashion industry is Euro owned and influenced “natural black hsirstyles” would not be favoured too.
She looks great with her natural hair. But being in the modeling industry she did right to protect her natural hair by wearing weaves and wigs. She probably wouldn’t have any hair on her head now if she hadn’t done that.
