The book is okay and I am a teen and I found the recipes disgusting! Hello? It made me want my junk food…badly

While reading this book I’ll admit I got a bit excited. But when you get down to it, they really didn’t tell me anything I didn’t already know. I felt the diet plan was very “LA-esque,” the requirements of which I couldn’t always meet in my NYC suburb. On top of that, a lot of their meal suggestions go against the new and updated food pyramid, and many of their recipes have A LOT of fat in them. Bottom line, there are better choices out there to learn how to eat healthily.

Any teenager who wants to lose a couple pounds should get this book. It’s completely teen-friendly–cutesy hearts, font, and vocabulary–NO scientific mumbo-jumbo! This is very high quality, and had a lot of thought put into it. It promotes a positive body image and has really simple and easy techniques for eating healthy. There are no fad or crash diets promoted at ALL. I love how this even comes with a few glossy picture pages with serving sizes of foods we commonly go overboard with–salmon, chicken, pizza. However, I’m a vegetarian, and I strongly recommend more people go vegetarian (for health and animal rights alike), and there could be more food options. They address vegetarian substitutes a few times (not in detail) and it was very smart of the author to mention vegetarianism in a very unbiased and neutral way–we all know how controversial the topic can be!
You’ve gotta get this book for yourself, your daughter, sister, etc.! I’m thinking of getting this for my sister because she wants to lose weight and wanted to try the Atkins diet (THE most unhealthy diet of all!!!) and I need to convince her otherwise!.
Love how easy to follow this book is.Phenomenal!

I ordered this book because my 13 year old daughter wanted to lose weight, and I was looking for something that would help her lose weight the right way. I read many of the reviews, and the biggest thing I got from them, was it was a positive, uplifting book, one that would help her feel good about herself, no matter what her size! The book talks about being “fit”, eating right, and positive self-talk. All great things.
I have made a special effort to make sure she has the things she needs to succeed at this eating plan, and I have made many of the recipes from the book. Everything has been fabulous…especially the pasta dish and the oven-fried chicken w/apricot sauce…YUM!
